Mental Health
Mental Health research conducted by Center for Health Decision Science researchers, including Drs. J Kim, Siskind and Sandberg, is conducted at 718 Huntington Avenue and is designed to create disease models for common mental disorders, including depression, schizophrenia, anxiety, bipolar disorder and ADHD, and to explore the cost-effectiveness for treatment of these disorders. Specific research being conducted on attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) by doctoral student Sandberg includes:
  • developing a model of the cost-effectiveness of treatments for ADHD, including medication and behavioral interventions.

  • measuring the health state utility weights for ADHD using the Health Utilities Index (HUI).

  • developing a predictive model for ADHD health state utilities bsaed on the severity of the child's ADHD symptoms, other comorbid illnesses, and other characteristics.

Center for Health Decision Science faculty and researchers sponsor and participate in a Mental Health working group intended to foster increased collaborations within and between institutions. The group meets at the Center for Health Decision Science (718 Huntington Avenue, 2nd floor), Department of Health Policy and Management at the Harvard School of Public Health, and announcements of upcoming meetings are posted on the Home Page.
