Program in Health Decision Science
The Program in Health Decision Science promotes informed and systematic decision making in the use of health-related technologies and public health practices through the theory and application of decision science. Given the overwhelming amount of new information available, and our increasingly global perspective, methods from the decision sciences can assist in logical and consistent analysis of complex decisions confronting a wide range of stakeholders.

Research and Policy Focus
Program in Health Decision Science faculty and researchers maintain a broad research focus. For many areas of emphasis there are activities in low, middle and high income countries and a linkage to both the policy arena and the field. In addition to analytic work focused on strategies for prevention and treatment of communicable and chronic diseases, investigators are working on cross-cutting themes such as women’s health in developing countries, strengthening health systems, economic evaluation of new medical technologies and pharmaceuticals, and the intersection of the environment and health. In addition to applied work, investigators conduct research to develop new decision analytic approaches – both novel methods and new applications of existing techniques – that address contemporary clinical and public health problems.
